Osprey now accepting Sheba Seniors Grants!

Osprey Community Foundation is now accepting Sheba Seniors grant applications. Formerly known as the Friends of Nelson Elders in Care (FONE) grants, the Sheba Seniors grants are funded by the interest generated from the Osprey’s Sheba Fund.

The primary purpose of these grants is to support the physical and mental well-being of senior citizens, through the funding of programs and services in Nelson and RDCK Areas E and F.

This year $30,000 is available for granting. Past funded projects include a snooker table rebuild at the Nelson Senior Citizens Branch #51, the Mobile Library Outreach program and a mobile lift for the Nelson Tramway.

Grant application guidelines and forms are now online. The deadline for applications is October 31st. Applicants must be registered charities or sponsored by ‘qualified donees‘ as defined by Revenue Canada.

"I wanted to do something local, such as helping seniors in our hospital here, and the fund I chose was a good fit with what I wanted to do. The donation is also a memorial to my wife; it fulfilled her wishes too."
