Slim Porter Memorial Fund

Donations to this Fund generate earnings that are distributed by Kids Sport Nelson to help financially-challenged local youth participate in sport.

In the 1930’s, Slim Porter was an inspiring coach of Nelson’s Fairview Athletic Club. He was known to give generously of his time and money to help kids participate in sports. Porter ensured everyone was able to play sports, regardless of financial standing: if a child couldn’t afford equipment, he’d find some. These ‘kids’ – now all grown up – established the Slim Porter Memorial Fund in his honour. They welcome further donations to the fund. The income generated from the Fund will carry on Slim’s legacy.

• Donations will be applied towards the Fund’s charitable purpose, which may be subject to change.
• The final authority on any distribution rests with Osprey Community Foundation.
• As per the Fund’s terms – gifts may be applied on a flow through or permanent basis.
