Background
On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Nathan passed away tragically in a car accident. He was born in Nelson on August 21, 2006. At the time of his passing, he was preparing to graduate from LV Rogers and eagerly anticipating his second year with the Castlegar Rebels hockey team.
An emerging hockey talent, Nathan spent a semester of grade 12 at Stanley Humphries while playing for the Castlegar Rebels. His passion for hockey ignited early, joining Nelson Minor Hockey at age five and progressing all the way through with his final year with the U18 rep team. He then moved on to play with the West Kootenay Crusaders AA Zone team the following year. After a summer of hard work, known for his dedication and impactful presence on the ice, Nathan earned a spot with the Junior A hockey team, the Castlegar Rebels, at just 17 years old.
Beyond hockey, Nathan enjoyed golfing with friends and cruising the West Arm in his tinner with his close companions. He cherished his family and friendships deeply, bringing love and joy wherever he went with his infectious smile and vibrant spirit. Described by friends as passionate, adaptable, generous, and kind, Nathan’s presence brightened every room he entered.
Nathan’s Fund will create a lasting legacy in his name by supporting local youth pursuing post secondary education.

The Nathan Jackman Memorial Fund was established by his parents, Tammy and Derrick Jackman to honour the life of their son, Nathan Jackman. Donations to the Fund will be endowed in perpetuity and the generated income will provide annual scholarships to graduating students in Nelson and Castlegar.
Proceeds from the newly organized annual Nathan Jackman Memorial Golf Tournament will also be directed to his Fund so that the community can celebrate Nathan’s life in a meaningful way.
