Vivien Bowers Moves On
We bid farewell to Vivien after 5 years as executive director and 8 years prior as an Osprey board member. She agreed to take on the E.D. job on an interim basis, and discovered she loved it. She’ll miss being ‘embedded’ in so many things going on in this incredible community.
New ED Tina Choi
We didn’t have to go far afield to find an excellent new E.D. Tina has worked for Osprey for the past 3 years, which will make for a smooth transition. She knows the organization inside and out, and many of you have worked with her already. Starting December 1st, she can be reached at:
And thanks to the sold out crowd that attended the hilarious and heart-warming Community Tribute to Dr. Jim Noiles on October 19th. Fabulous entertainment by our M.C. Keith Bridger and performers Mary Audia (a.k.a. Janis Joplin), Paul Prappras, Christine Vanlerberg, Roger Luscombe, Dave Scanlan, the Ukeladies, Dr. Raz Moola & Celeste. We’ll post photos when they’re available. If you couldn’t be there, but wish to pay tribute to Dr. Jim, we would gratefully accept any donations to our Community Fund.
Our community recently lost an environmental champion. Family and friends have established a new Osprey fund to honour Suzy’s legacy. Monies generated will be used each year to honour a woman in the West Kootenay who has shown leadership and verve in her environmental work. Donations to this fund can be made by cheque (“Osprey Community Foundation”, and put “Suzy Hamilton” on the memo line) or online. See the Donations page for details.
From the ‘Grub & Shrub Club’ to summer theatre to programs for seniors, Osprey grants make a difference in the community. See a list of community grants here.
Dan died in March 2016 in an avalanche, and his sister Kelly has established this fund in his honour. Income from the fund will support causes such as addiction services, mental health awareness and avalanche safety and training. Kelly will match all donations. Here’s your link to the Donate page.
